"It is the ideas we generate, more than anything else, that will enable us to solve our problems, overcome our obstacles, and achieve our goals. Ideas are the key to the future. It is not possible for us to achieve anything of value except to the degree to which we think creatively and do something new and different from what has been done before. All it takes is a small innovation."

The Vision for 23rd & East Cherry

As a traveller walking through some of my favorite places, like Bangkok and Amsterdam, I fell in love with the uniqueness of the sidewalk cafes and small shops. I found myself constantly snapping photos and soon realized that I was so intrigued with these spaces because they represent a certain individuality and character. Contrary to the American perspective which is dominated by "Big Box" retailers, I set out to bring this "Small Box" concept back to my neighborhood in Central Seattle. Our vision at Central Space is to recreate a typical street scene from Asia or Europe in the form of a new shopping destination on E. Cherry Street between 23rd and 24th Ave. The Small Box Blog is dedicated to sharing this vision with the people who will help make this happen, including those who will eventually inhabit the spaces, neighbors and visitors. Ultimately, this project is being built to promote a better quality of life for members of the Central Seattle community. Thus, we welcome all feedback and suggestions on how we can make it better serve the people. http://centralspace.com/enquiry.php?id=3&unitid=20

Cherry Street Revival

Central Space is proposing a new development for the block facing E Cherry from 23rd to 24th Ave. With over 300 feet of frontage on E Cherry Street, these 2 buildings erected in 1926 are about to undergo a major transformation. Our intention is to create a pedestrian-oriented shopping district while working with key community partners such as Garfield and NOVA High Schools, The Seattle Parks Dept., Feet First, Sustainable CD and others. As you read through this site, you'll get a better idea of our vision and how we hope to realize it together.
